I have just bought websitepainter, yet looked through help. Maybe I overlooked it, but: 1. what is the difference amongst button forms (button / submit / reset) ? I cannot see any ? 2. I wanted to combine buttons and links. But how can I make a button becoming a link ? I cannot chose the link opton, when trying. |

Hi, the buttons you are using are intended to be used in html forms. Submit and Reset are the default form actions, to submit and reset a form. Of course you can also use them to link websites, but it's not supposed to work like that. Instead, use a 'Shape', enter a text for it and right-click it to add a hyperlink. To add a link to such a form button instead, you have to right-click it, select 'edit html code', select the 'additional attributes' section and enter something like this: on click="parent.location='http://www.yourpage'" (note: remove the space between 'on' and 'click', this forum doesn't like that phrase) |

oh, ok, thank you - by the way, I was not able to copy that line from here (in Safari) to Website painter, I had to enter it all by hand. |
Does not really work, though. I have added a semikolon (do I need it ?) and then as you said. Without ";" it does not work either. |

I just tried it out again, works perfectly, in all browsers (except if you are running a special version of Internet Explorer: if you run the website it from your local drive, it will disable javascript there, you need to enable it). But as I said, it's maybe better to use a shape instead of the button. Does not involve javascript. |

I have this, it does not work (I have tried to transform the "Home"-button into a link); and I have tried it with Safari as well as with Sea Monkey: input name="Button1" type="submit" value="Home" title="" style="overflow:hidden; position:absolute; left:1px; top:1px; width:100px; height:24px; font-size:10pt; font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color:000000; " id="wsp_5f0116bc"; onklick="parent.location='http://www.jewel-of-light.org' " > Could you tell me, what I would have to change ? I have it temporarily online at http://www.jewel-of-light.org/te... This also shows a problem with displaying the German Umlaute as well as the display of bullets and a mysterious appearing of a sign beside the copyright mark... Maybe some language settings within the programme might be a good idea... ? |

Oh, and additionally, strangely, there should be a green shape below the title-words. It appears within website painter and also in preview, yet is gone online. |
You wrote "on klick", not "on click" (without space). That's the problem. Also, you seem to have manually edited the .html file or used an old ftp program, that's why your Umlaute and the copright symbol look like that. (You need to upload it in binary mode if there is such an option, not ascii mode) Should work perfectly in WebsitePainter then. And about the missing green shape: You didn't upload the images generated by websitePainter, for example the .png file of your shape is not there: http://www.jewel-of-light.org/te... |

ups... As to the first and the last point, you are totally, totally so right, please excuse that I simply overlooked both points. As to uploading as binary: I did that (using fork lift, the previous version, yet the new one is only days old, so that should not matter). I have set it to upload as binary - and I tried a few other changes (utf--8 etc.), which did not help. Do you have got any advice there ? I have never had problems with German or Japanese letters using nvu/Sea Monkey/kompozer. I cannot change the general setting of the webspace, by the way.) I have also created a new file, where I did not edit anything manually. It does not display correctly (on my webspace ?) so far: http://www.jewel-of-light.org/te... By the way, entering Japanese characters cannot be done in the main window, a small window opens in the lower left. A bit unusual. |
Addition: ok, If I set my browser to UTF-8, too, it works. But I uspect that not many normal users have done that. Files created with kompozer etc. just automatically display right, be it German or Japanese on most people's browsers. Is there no similar way here ? |

Hm, that's interesting. I've not heard any similar problem with this before, but I have a look into that. What FPT client are you using? A future version will also include uploading features in WebsitePainter, btw, so then this won't be any problem anyway. |

Fork Lift. I have also trouble with Umlaute and Japanese with Rapid Weaver and iWeb, but not with Kompozer etc. |

I just bought Website Painter and I can't publish my site in the internet? My Web Host is www.000webhost.com. My user information to upload is: ** File Upload Details *** FTP Hostname: ftp.alexandremoreiracv.hostei.com or 216.108.239.169 FTP Username: a4052203 FTP Passsword: xxxxxxx Files must be uploaded to 'public_html' folder. If you are not using FTP, you can access web based file manager from control panel. Why does it gives me an error every time!?!?!?!? What do I have to do?? Best regards, Alexandre Moreira |

Alexandre wrote: Why does it gives me an error every time!?!?!?!? I just tried out connecting to that server with the user name and password you were sending to me per mail, with 2 different FTP programs and with WebsitePainter. It looks like the data you have there is simply incorrect, it doesn't work. This is not the fault of WebsitePainter. Contact your provider and see where there problem is. |
