PAN camera in model viewer

Hi all,

I am doing product viz (using model viewer camera) and wonder how the user can PAN the camera/view. Just find rotate and zoom but as in all 3D applications PAN is essential.

Another question, I have a "reset camera" button which basically moves the camera to its original position. However I want to reset the zoom level as well. how is that done?

Thanks!!

Hm, both could be done with a small script. Depending on which behavior you are using for model viewer camera and zoom. There is a

Model Viewer Camera with variable radius

which could be easily extended for this.

Hi,

Great! Rotate/Zoom/Pan are essential functions in all 3D viz programs. Without PAN, the camera viewer won´t work as expected. Client asked for it directly after testing our first CC model viewer.

I would suggest:

1. Rotate - Left mouse button just as it works now
2. Zoom - mouse wheel OR Right mouse button+move fwd/bkwd
3. Pan - Both mouse buttons+move left-right / up-down. Panning should be perpendicular to view and not world coordinates.

Ofcourse tree should be common alternatives for Mac users. On smartphones/tablets maybe one finger rotates, two fingers pan and regular two-finger pinch to zoom.

Would this be possible to have implemented shortly?

Many thanks // Mats

I've added it to the TODO list, but I cannot say when this will be finished, sorry. If you need this very quickly, best is to use the extension behavior as mentioned above and add this functionality yourself (should be just a few lines of code)

Hi,

Any news on when PAN will be included in CopperCube?

I am about to deliver two product presentations to client now and need it (they demand it as it is available in all other 3D programs). If the update is not around the corner, how can I solve it with code? I am not a programmer at all so a dummys guide to that script would be great. I have a camera with the ModelViewer behavior.

Thanks!!

See if this plugin you can serve.

The update will probably take 3 or 4 weeks. But it is difficult to say. Maybe the plugin pmax mentioned helps you. And even if not, take a look at its source code, this might help you there.

Thanks pmax, but it doesn´t seem to have the PAN function? I am not a programmer so for me to script the PAN functionality is simply not going to work. If anyone could halp on this it would be highly appreciated.

Niko, will the update be a new version of CC or a new behaviour?

Thanks // Mats

Is there any chance you could help with those lines of code until CC is updated? My client is releasing a new product in a few days, and PAN is necessary of course in the model view.

Many thanks!!

For the next update, I've implemented Pan already in the extension model camera view behavior. If you like a preview, send me a mail, and I'll send you that plugin.
