Mobile menu's and contact.php not working

Hi,

first of all, thank you for this awesome software. I've created a site which is nearly finished, but I'm still facing some problems:

1. I've followed every step in the tutorial in order to create a contact page with a submit form, where customers can pose their questions by filling out the text boxes with their e-mail address. Unfortunately, after uploading this to the server, it doesn't work (the whole page doesn't work). What could be the problem? It must be somewhere in the php-code, I guess, as I'm in direct contact with my web hoster who supports PHP.

2. Mobile menu's: I've used them (clicked the option), but they simply don't work. As soon as the screen size is under the defined 320 pixels, the menu appears, but doesn't work (on mobile and on the desktop). What could be the problem?

The site is to be found at www.shoebiedoe.be

Thanks in advance for your support.

Kris

Hi krissy,

For the mobile menus to work, you need to fill them. It's not enough to select the option "mobile menu". When you are in the 320 px screensize in RocketCake you select the menu and will then be able to build the mobile menu.
It is not automatic.
Hope this helps.

About your PHP problem: Don't you get any error messages? Maybe you could post a link to your contact form.

Difficult to say what happend to your menu, maybe you could send me the .rcd file, then I can look at it and see what you did there.

thanks, Niko.

The contact page is to be found on http://www.shoebiedoe.be/contact.php

I would be glad to send you the .rcd file, but this is already 128 MB. By which means do you want me to send this to you? WeTransfer maybe? To which address/destination can I do this?

Sure, that would be possible. Alternatively, just delete all the pages exect those non-working pages and send me the 'crippled' rcd file, which should be much smaller then.

Hi Niko,

I've sent the "crippled" file to "***" several days ago. Could you check, pls, or do I need to send this to another mail address?

BTW, you can find the site with the error on it on www.shoebiedoe.be (link to contact page)

I think I answered you (but not 100% sure, I get a lot of mails with rocketcake files), maybe check your spam folder? I usually answer within a few days. Alternatively, send it again.

Ok, maybe that's the problem: I didn't get anything from you. Did you send it to the right address? Maybe you could also upload it somewhere and link it from here, alternatively.

Hi,

it finally worked, thanks.

For the contact form: I'd uncheck the option "use external .css file for styles" in the options dialog in rocketcake (menu Publish -> Options), I think this is the problem.

BTW; the image you are using as background is quite a bit too big for a website, I would make it much, much smaller.

About the mobile menu: It works nicely for me, I think the problem is that you didn't set all the hyperlinks in there. Also, maybe increase that 320 value to something like 460 instead, so that it appear earlier.

Hope this helps!

Hi Niko,

I've tried unchecking the option "use external .css file for styles" in the options dialog, but this doesn't help. Any other suggestions?

Ah, I spotted another problem on your page: You pasted the PHP code with apple's smart paste, as it seems. See the quotation marks in your code? They are invalid, because your Mac OS rewrote them when you pasted them. They call this feature "smart quotes", but they are the opposite, in fact. To fix this, do this:

Disable that feature in Mac OS:

- Open System Preferences
- Select the Keyboard preference pane
- Select the Text tab in the Keyboard preferences
- Uncheck Use smart quotes and dashes

The delete the PHP code from rocketcake and paste it again from the website. Now it should work.

Tried it. It's already better, I've got a page showing up. Before this, it was an error message within my browser. But there's still a blank page showing up. Result to be consulted on www.shoebiedoe.be

Other suggestions?

Kris
