RocketCake 1.3 bugs and feature requests

First of all, thank you very much for this magnificent tool! Very simple and very powerful, it is the best offline web-site building tool i know (i used Pinegrow, created few commercial sites with Mobirise, but RocketCake is the best).

There are some notes about the RocketCake 1.3 (i use pro version). I was waiting this version thinking some bugs will be fixed but they was not. So i want to mention few aspects of RocketCake behaviour.

1. (BUG?) I add html-page to project (or folder) with cyrillic (non-latin) characters. after publishing i get "____________.html" instead of my name.

Possible solve: transliterate name or warn about using of non-latin characters.

2. (BUG!!!!) I add image or any other resource with non-latin character in filename. After publishing i get "___________.jpg" or "_____.mp4" etc. So web-site can't correctly load these files.

Possible solve: while publishing rename resources based on unique (within project) name generation algorythm, it may be something like: <timestamp>_<counter or random number>.<file extension>

3. (FEATURE REQUEST). Please, add an ability to format text as strikeout.

Pinegrow and Mobirise are really bad tools, no usability and more.

Until the developer has published the next update I use a online editor, he´s really perfect. I never have created a domain and its pages so fast and reasily.

As a german I don´t need any other foreign languages. But however, it will be a nice feature if RocketCake is able to support any other characters as well....

Vikenti, did you send in your feature requests? Usually, the Ambiera guys fix problems I report with the next update. You always need to report the problems you have, otherwise they won't know!

How to send feature request\bug report? I've found only this forum for that purpose.

(IMHO) Mobirise was too "high-level"\simple with many significant limitations and Pinegrow was too "low-level" and complicated for me to use as a comfortable tool. OpenElement i think was designed not for a human being, at least not with a human way of thinking. RocketCake is the optimal choice for me.

Just report it in this forum, or use Support -> Contact.

Two questions:

I've completed my first site now using Rocket Cake 1.2 (pro version), and it went fairly well. I'm quite pleased so far.

Now I need to move on to my second site, and I'd like to try 1.3.

Can I install 1.3 without damaging the files made in 1.2? If so, how?

Because it's a separate site, I'd also like to start working in a different folder with its own rcd subfolder, etc.. How do I create a different folder, and can I use the pages from the old folder as copies for my new site under 1.3?

Thanks,

Sam Garrett

Yes, they work nicely side by side. Just download and install it. You can open and save all sites with both versions of the editor, they are compatible.

Just remember to keep backup of your web-site source files. If any error occurs you'll be able to revert to original version. RocketCake 1.3 installs to the separate folder in Program Files so you can anytime select the version you need.

Anyway it is a best practice to make a backup of source files (any files you use in your project including image\audio\html\php\database dumps etc.) to the safe place (another HDD, Flash drive or DVD).
