you could try texturing a cube with the text or splatter, make sure the texture has alpha channel (transparency) for the background, then set material type of the cube to transparent alpha channel and move it right up next to the wall where all faces of the cube are through the wall except one face that displays the decal. This would be the easiest way to do what you want. Hope I helped.
