Currently we can set Alpha for color background, but not for Image - would it be possible to add? It would help creating more interactive 2D items

Can't you just use a .png and use any alpha you like?

The idea is to allow dynamic alpha changes - so for example an image can appear smoothly on screen

Yes, a fade in - fade out on 2d elements will be a new nice feature...
and ink effect too...add, substract, or, ect...
