Question about links/hyperlinks and location of saved files

First some explanation why and for what I use RocketCake.

Earlier I worked with NVU, which no longer is updated and for reasons some things don´t work properly anymore. Anyway: for easy and fast acces to files that are stored on different locations/directories I created some kind of local stored mini-intranet (html files, with menue links,... it´s called PAUL => translated it means: portal for occupational safety and the environment ). The hyperlinked files are still placed on their locations, because of some other linked funktions (for example: a word file uses functions that links to a database. It´s neccessary that they are placed where they are.

Now I found RocketCake. It´s a really nice tool so far, and I used it to create a new "PAUL" . All workes fine: menues, style.
I had added some links to the documents, that worked good so far too.

BUT: as I recognized the linked files are copied from their locations into the rc_images directory.

Now my question: I can understand that this makes some sense, especially when published into the internet that they stored into the project.
But is there some opportunity to let the linked files as docs, xls, pdf´s and so on, where they are originally saved?
Reason is: The files should be remain there further, and with the integration into the rc_images they would be existing doubled.
Or exists the function and I do it wrong? (I used the free version of RocketCake)

Yes, you can do that. Just link them with a link where you type in the location of the file, and don't use the option "file from disk". RocketCake won't then do anything with the file. (You also need to upload that linked file yourself then, btw)

Sorry to ask again, but how I do that?
If I add a link via right-mouse-click I have the options between a website, page in the project, Email, and so on. But with none of them its working if I only type in the location of the file. And right, I tried it with the file from disk option where they are moved into the rc-directory.
And I had nothing other found similar for link.
Or need I the professional version for this (would no problem for me)?

Yes, just use "website" and as url, type in your file name, like

myfilename.pdf

Then it will work, if you upload the file name into the same location as where your website document is. Works with the free version.

ah now I understand. Tested it and worked. Thanks

It´s not exact that what I as in mind for my plans as this needs the website file and the linked file in same place, but I think its more practical for my purposes as the file from disk.

I think I must rearrange now my project to fit as best as possible to this solution. As said: Thanks for help

(However, if one day the function could get implemented, that if the website-project is stored on disk links to documents outside this stored website directory got possible - that would be nice. )

but you can also create a folder on the server, put the files in there and hyperlink to that file.
For example: https://yourdomain.com/folder/file.pdf

Then you only need to update and upload the files for new features
