First off, I have absolutely no idea how to implement this. the instructions aren't exactly straight forward for a novice like me.

I installed it, even tried selecting it from the plugins tab and it never shows up in the properties box.

I don't even know what to attach it to. Is there tutorial on how to use it?

I am on phone so i cant see script right now but as i understand its an action that reads file and puts text on 2d overlay.

You need to download this action and put it in scripts folder..that is in mydocuments/coppercube.

Now add 2d overlay and add behavior to it .. if klicked then... now you can set action to it.

Also restart coppercube if you add any scripts.

Nothing seems to work. It doesn't even show up after I click on the action. I installed it in the right folder, I just can't get it to work. It's frustrating when many of these plugins lack clear and to the point instructions. It would be really helpful if that was included.

I am the developer of the extension and it works fine on my side. There is probably bug or glitch with your Coppercube extensions folder, this usually happens when you have a faulty extension or an extension with some buggy or faulty code, you probably will face issues with other extensions too.

The only solution I know of this bug is that you need to move all your extensions to a temporary new directory and copy the extension that you want to use in the original directory again.

for that particular extension, its a very old extension and the related thread to that extension got burried deep down in the forums. The action reads text from an external file and displays it on a 2D overlay. There is nothing fancy in there. The properties are self explanatory so I didn't thought it requires extra detailed info.

Let me know if the action doesn't show up in your Coppercube editor even after moving all the extensions to a temporary folder and then copying the read text from file extension to the extension folder only.

hope that helps

@chicoporter, when you downloaded the extension and opened the Zip archive, Did you read the description.txt file? It already contains instructions on how to use the extension.

Anyways, the Error you are facing is due to the text file doesn't exist. You need to make sure that the Filename.txt file exists in the same directory as your project folder.

you were probably trying to test the action on an unsaved Coppercube project which is why the Filename.txt never gets found and you get this error of "text is undefined"

In order to solve the issue make sure you are using the correct filename in the action property and that you have the file in the same folder as of your project.

To make it easier for you here is a sample demo file.

It works for me with no problems..
Maybe you have some fancy antivirus that blocks access to a file .. so script cant read that file. ( i have encountered some problems with antivirus programs in past - but not with coppercube )

Also make sure your text file is in same folder where your coppercube project is ( i doubt that you didnt have it there already but i mention it anyways .. so if you open just in case example you unzip it first and dont execute it from zip file directly)

I get same error if i dont have text file where it should be.
