I'm trying to understand how irrFuscator actually protects AS3 source code. It appears to me that all the code remains intact even though the function names and variables are jumbled. Although the code becomes ugly, wouldn't it still run properly? Thanks, Ed Wu Director of Technology http://www.RedwoodsMedia.com |

Hi, it's simply like this: There are flash decompilers out there which are basically able to restore the source code from compiled .swf files. You can read the code and change everything in it easily. When using irrFuscator, this is of course still possible, but because irrFuscator has renamed all the function and class names, it is much more difficult or even impossible for a human to understand the code at all. For the computer of course, this makes no difference and the swf will run as expected. |
