After downloading my website I need to correct some flaws but have accidentally deleted the original .rcd file. Is there a way to import the web content back into RocketCake again?

I don't think there is a way to do that.
Always make backups!

There should be a way to reconstruct a site using the html and rc images. I cannot find the .rcd file despite spending a lot of time searching entire c:/ and external drives! I have no idea why the file is lost but this has become a real issue with RC.

Avoiding the whole conversation about users putting in place a proper backup system for important files...
I suppose if RocketCake wanted to, they could have an option to "include .rcd in publish" or something like that - so that when you publish your website, you automatically include the .rcd file in the root folder where your website is published. It wouldn't be public facing (although I suppose someone COULD enter www.mywebsite.com/mywebsite.rcd and download it) - but it would count as an off-site backup?
