Am I right in thinking that the keywords you can put into a ‘free’ RocketCake webpage will be seen by search engine crawlers, but the “meta name description” is only available if using the Pro version? The ‘description’ is not necessary for what I’m doing right now but, as a newbie, it is best that I understand everything before doing a bigger and better website for my photo club. Yes, you can manually enter the description meta tag into the HTML code in the pro version, but I'm not entirely sure if search engines are actually using that tag anymore - although it is written all over the web. Anyone knows if for example google actually uses the description meta tag? |

Google does not use the meta keywords tag for ranking or crawling. Google does look at the meta description tag—not as a ranking signal, but often to help determine the snippet shown in search results. Meta keywords: Ignored by Google and most major search engines for ranking purposes. Meta description: Affects how your pages appear in search results (the snippet) and can help encourage users to click through, but it does not directly affect ranking signals. Bottom line: Keep writing good meta descriptions for user experience and improved CTR, but don’t rely on meta keywords for any SEO benefit. |

I'm not interested in ranking, only in being listed by the search engines and therefore findable by web browsers. So – in summary – don't bother anymore with keywords but do bother with the meta description? |
