..for anyone using these services or similar..

have you actually ever been paid real money or just virtual wallet?

I had a small amount of credit in my virtual wallet on itch (which could be used to 'purchase' software from itch.io) but nothing ever went to my bank in over 3 years.

Does anyone know of any legitimate site that actually pays out in real life (to a bank) please - or are they all a kind of scam?

I'm mainly looking to sell low-price home-made assets. If I finish my game, I'll probably list it on Steam instead.

Thanks.

I have sold a few assets on Itch.io and it works just fine. The money gets transferred to my Paypal, and then due to my country restriction on Paypal wallet usage, it gets auto settled to my Bank account by the end of the day after deducting Paypal charges and currency conversion charges.

You might not be able to get the money to your PayPal or your bank account if you don't have your Payout Mode set to Direct to you in your Itch.io settings.

If payout mode is Collected by itch.io, Paid later , then itch.io will hold all the payment and you have to request itch.io to release the funds to you, so that it can be transferred to your account.

But in this case, itch.io will require you to withdraw money only after the purchase is at least 7 days old. And if you don't withdraw the purchases after a specific time period for example over a year, then it may also charge you maintenance fees.

Also there is a limit for example you can only withdraw if you have more than $5 in your itch.io balance(Wallet).

It is better to have payout mode as Direct to you it will be transferred to you as soon as someone make a purchase and you don't have to worry about rest of the issue that I have mentioned above.

The only benefit I found to have the other payout mode of holding balance in itch.io is that, it will prepare all the tax forms for you automatically and it will act as a mediator for refund and other stuff in case of disputes.

But Direct payout mode is much better in my opinion. Paypal also provides the Tax Information and Fira details but I am not sure if you have to be registered as Paypal Business.

I don't know about other payment processors as I don't have personally used any other than Paypal.

Regarding GameJolt, I never used it to post and sell stuff.

I don't think Steam is a good platform specially if you are going to sell low priced assets and if you don't want to pay stuff in order to just list items on steam. @Rolevix and @Wilfree might be able to provide more accurate answers regarding selling on Steam. They have been publishing games there, so they might help you on that.

That's perfect, thank you my friend!
I'll set up PayPal and 'direct payments' from itch to PayPal.

I'll probably use Steam (way in the future) to sell the final game but I'll probably resort to using itch.io for selling individual assets/packs.

As promised, I'll always still keep my Coppercube projects available free.

Glad to see you back here, I hope all is well JustInCase :)

I use stripe payment it's better for credit card process. @VP I sold my asset and games too, so it can work for both websites. But my most profit is itch.io but it doesn't matter where as long the payments going through.
