Now that my submarine game is growing significantly in scope, I want to move beyond calling it just a "CopperCube project" and refer to it as a proper game; to that end, I’d like to start a dedicated developer thread under the game's title. Discord Link http://whttps://discord.com/chan... Now that surface firing using the UZO and submerged firing via the periscope were working, the next step was a functional deck gun. The projectile follows a ballistic trajectory, and you have to account for both the target's speed and the submarine's own speed. With a bit of practice, it works quite well though I still always need a few shots to dial in my aim. Silent Fathom is my attempt to create a complete submarine simulation from scratch. I am using the CopperCube 6 engine for this. Graphics are created in Milkshape3D and PaintShop, and audio is produced with Audacity. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=... |

All the weapon stations are now operational in the video, along with a few graphical improvements. Unfortunately, Copper Cube doesn't support vectors—or quite a few other things, for that matter. But as the saying goes: don't fight the engine; just work with what's there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=... |

Ready for testing. Tell me what you think. https://ammax.itch.io/silent-fat... |

Anyone test it? |

how do you flood the ballast tanks? |

i think this is the controls from the readme? "Up arrow – Select dive Down arrow – Select surface" they don't seem very responsive? i finally got it to dive but couldn't get the sub to go back up. perhaps im doing something wrong on my end. |

Thanks. The depth gauge features two needles: the red one indicates the actual depth, while the gray one shows the assigned depth. You use the up and down arrow keys to move the assignment needle. The boat takes some time to reach the target depth; the same applies when surfacing. When diving, the greater the target depth, the more air is released from the ballast tanks you can hear the hissing sound. Conversely, it takes longer to blow out the full ballast tanks to make the boat rise again. |
