Hi. I have just a silly question. The thing is, i bough Coppercube (a license i mean) and i want to change the splash screen. By default it says 'Made with the free version of coppercube' or something like that. I want to make new one with coppercube's logo and the text 'Made with CopperCube' below.

Question is, i am allowed to do so?

Thanks in advance.

The question is about license permission. Other game Engines ask the players to keep the logo one way or another and the CC logo is trademarket.

I want to create a splash screen with CC logo from the webpage, I am asking if i have the legal permission to do so.

If you want, I can write a patch for you to swap out the logo image in the engine. That way, regardless of the license, the final game will "compile" with whatever image you need...

I didn't quite get that last part and kind of missed it - what do you mean by logo from the webpage? If you want to build for WebGL, you just need to replace the coppercubeloadinglogo.png image and that's it. But it feels like you're referring to something else.
Could you describe what exactly you need?

Thanks for the responses Wing. There's no need for a patch.

' what do you mean by logo from the webpage?' I meant i went to the CC web-page, made right click on CC's logo (violet one with the white box, like the one the game has) and clic on 'save image'

I already made a custom splash screen, the only thing I am asking if I can use that specific logo in it. Since the logo is Ambiera's property.

As between you and Ambiera, files, applications, generated program code and flash files that are authored or created by you via your utilization of the Software, in accordance with the terms of this software license agreement, are your property.

Without an official explicit statement on the logo usage, I think the best move is to just use the plain text line.

Or: you can ask Ambiera via email to get a clarification or written permission (if they don't clarify this in the public).

Yes, I already did, I am waiting for the response. I have a temporary only text splash screen. But with the logo is more pretty and 'professional'

And In response to Wing. I didn't made the logo, is the one the engine already has. And in the engine's license says:

The software is the property of Ambiera and is protected by the copyright law. The software is licensed and not sold. The software is owned by Ambiera. Ambiera retains all rights, including all copyrights and intellectual property rights in and to the software, its documentation, title, logos, data files and all copies thereof. All rights not explicitly granted to you in this license are reserved by the Ambiera.

Thanks to all so far.

You are allowed to modify the logo to whatever you want that is having a custom splashscreen, There is also the option to edit the splash screen in the editor and change the loading text to custom loading text.

A lot of other developer are already doing it, there was a controversial discussion years ago on the forum about removing the logo completely from the game. There were personal mixed opinions.

Though I go with the opinion of having the logo there of coppercube but a customized one, as Coppercube is a niche game engine and isn't quite popular, It definitely needs more exposure, It is better to have logo or splash screen there so that it gets more exposure or get free marketing with every game created with it. But again that's just personal opinion.

So in short, You are allowed to use custom splash images, the editor itselt allows you to do so. Feel free to use modified images.

Now the license you quoted is for the editor itself and not for the game or app that the editor publishes. You can't change the icon, logo and other stuff of the Ambiera's proprietory tools and editors and can't distribute them it is prohibited.

but you are allowed to do so in the product that those tools produces or publishes, for example you can have your own logo and stuff in a website created from Rocketcake, or can have custom logo and images and other stuff created in the game or app published through CopperCube.

I hope this clears any confusion.
