Hello, I've just got CopperCube last week and love it! I'm trying to make a bullet explode when it hits anything such as a model or wall etc. For the explosion I'm using a billboard with multiple animated textures and transparencies in the texture files thus creating a nice realistic explosion but how can I get it to re-position itself and appear as an explosion in the exact position of the bullet when ever the bullet hits something? I have a demo here: http://www.queenseng.com/Shoottest.html You can see the billboard explosion animation and you can press the Ctrl key to shoot. Anyway, I love CopperCube! Cheers. Edward. |

For now, I personally know no way how this could be done easily using only actions and behaviors, I'm sorry. But there are some very creating people in this forum who created stuff in CopperCube which I didn't think were possible, so maybe they know a way. :) |

Hi Thanks for the replies, Cheers fifkin, this is a demo video recording of what I'm trying to do: http://www.queenseng.com/shootertest01/shootertest01.html I didn't use CopperCube to make this demo level but I hope coppercube can do this so I can produce my games on the web in flash instead of just windows like so many other game makers out there. I have tried several different ways to get the bullets to explode but with no success. Perhaps you could do it through coding. Objects that get hit by the bullets however, can be made to explode easily. |

Thanks fifkid!! Your demo is exactly what are wanted! I like it. So how did you get the bullets to explode? I have a lot to learn about making games with CopperCube. I also use FPS creator and the 3d game maker which I both love but they can't export games into flash and for Mac etc like coppercube can. I also love how easy it is to import 3d models into CopperCube too especially animated models! Thanks a lot! Ed. |

So fifkid, Could you give me a tip as to how you were able to do the explosion ? Thanks. Ed. |

Nice tank game, but I didn't see any exploding bullets. |

Thanks fifkid for helping me solving the exploding bullets. To help others do this we discovered that it seems to work best using the 3rd person camara but not using the first person view wich is what I was using at first. Anyway I prefer using 3rd person so all good! |

Another two methods are:- 1) In "shoot" options, have a "move position to last bullet impact" action, to move your explosion animation to the place of the last bullet impact. Then delete the bullet (or make it invisible). 2) For quick 2D explosion/splatter effects, you can simply scale the size of a single transparent _png image, using a particle effect to make an animation - instead of using multiple still-framed-sprite sequences to make a traditional 2D animation. You can use the same method for adding damage/debris - just move a single 3D plane (with a suitable transparent "debris.png" texture) or a particle effect (for fire/smoke) to the site of the last bullet impact. ...Like you, I had initially used frame-by-frame 2D sprite animations for every separate explosion - but I found that it slowed the FPS way too much as I added more and more animations - as a solution (illustrated above), I now just recycle a single 3D explosion animation and a single-frame "blood spatter" particle effect for every explosion - I just move them to the site of last bullet-impact and make them visible/invisible as required. This helps to keep the game's frame-rate smooth and makes it easier for me to manage the animations. Download the playable demo [58.7MB] *Game isn't finished but explosion animations and fire effect are working.... https://drive.google.com/file/d/... |
