Best Pipeline?

What do you think is the best pipeline to import animated meshes in CopperCube?

Is there any pipeline based only in opensource software?

Sorry I´m a newbie, I usually work with Cinema 4D and I´m having a lot of troubles trying to import stuff into CopperCube, so I´m a bit frustrated.

Many thanks, and sorry for my bad english.

If you import your animated mesh into ultimate unwrap 3d then export it from there into an *.X format, you should have no problems.

But ultimate unwrap 3d costs money if you don't mind or for a free tool:

You should first export to Direct *.x format from Cinema 4D, then use the "Mender" (Free Tool) to fix your .x file.
You can Download: Mender here:
http://www.thegamecreators.com/?... don't use ANIMER on that page you'll find Mender at the bottom of that page it's a free tool. Should help you I think.

Just import your x file into it and mender will automatically fix it for you I hope.

Hope that helps.

Ed.

Thanks Ed,

I was looking into 3D Exhange for iClone but it is pretty expensive.

There are loads of really useful tools on thegamecreators.com that I never even knew existed.

Iclone 3d exchange pipeline only exports as fbx or Obj (static) .
UUW 3D does fix all.
Mrmdesign - what do you think of deepMesh? Specs look good and it gives you a lot for 24usd. How is stabity and .x export compatible with cc?

Many thanks to everybody. Finally I think I found a way. Cinema 4D doesn´t export animations in x

I Start In CInema 4D R13.
Exports as Collada 1.4 and save the texture apart.
Convert from Collada 1.4 to FBX 2010 with Autodesk FBX Converter 2013 (Free tool http://www.autodesk.mx/adsk/servlet/pc/item?siteID=123112&id=10775855)
Finally cross my fingers and convert from FBX 2010 to b3d in Mikshape (Is strange but the other formats didn´t work well in CopperCube even the native format of Milkshapes give me errors)

So i finally have my mesh animated and with the UV working in CopperCube. I think is a crazy pipeline, anyway at least now I know there is a way.

MS3d models limit to 7000 polys and may get y axis motion distortion. Export for cc3 as b3d instead. Or .x

I'm working in Modo 701 and then exporting to OBJ or FBX. I have UU3D Pro just in case and I also have Deep Mesh and will be seeing how it can help me.

Yeah...deepMesh sure looks interesting. I am concerned about the price being too low for quality and development to keep up with industry. Hates to invest the time on something that is destined for obsolescence due to lack of continued R&D. 24 bucks and free upgrades for life seems too good to be sustainable. But who knows? I wonder how the rigging tool is easy or pita?

Remember you also get a huge motion content and it so powerfull to animate your charakter and props. and don't forget the easyness and timesaving

I'm invited today in a new beta program , with this new version will soon possible to export facial animation too, and maybe spring effects . I will test this
with CC...

Has Cinema not a fbx exporter ?

Theorically Cinema 4D R13 exports in x, fbx and Collada.

But when you try it:

x - Don´t accept animation
fbx - Strange exportation don´t recogniced correctly in Milkshape, I try to fix it with the Autodesk FBX Converter but it didn´t work
Collada - Strange exportation, but at least I can convert it to a correct FBX format.

I don´t know if CINEMA 4D R-14 have resolved some of this issues, in my research i have found a lot of frustated users and outdated plugins.

Deepmesh 3D is pretty cool so far. I was a bit tired last night and did not have a proper play.

I will upload some results soon.

I also have Daz Carrara 8 and access to the 8.5 beta which exports to .x.

I was able to record mocap data with Brekel and Kinect, import it in to Carrara, attach it to a mesh, export as .x and import into Coppercube and it worked perfectly.

If this works, I may not need Deepmesh for character animation after all!
My pipeline will be:

1) Make character: Sculpt, retopo, ambient occlosion, paint textures in 3D Coat. Export as OBJ...

2) Record mocap with Brekel and export BHV...

3) Mix it all together in Carrara 8.5 beta and export to .x

4) Import into CopperCube and enjoy!

Deepmesh will also come in useful for level creation and the animation process may work better there as you can see all of the materials (normal maps, etc) in real time.

I was so tempted by 3DXchange after getting the pro version Free with 3D World but the Pipeline version (which is the one I would need) is a little bit too expensive for now. My wife will kill me.
