I have exported a .SWF file from a project in coppercube, but no matter what I do, I can't seem to get it functioning on website painter...

Any help in order to be able to get it going? It just appears as a blank screen...

In short: Just use a HTML element and paste the HTML code generated by CopperCube into there, this will work.

Long explanation:

You see a black screen because the flash drawing mode needs to be set to 'direct', an option Adobe recently introduced and is only necessary if your flash app uses Stage3D, which CopperCube generated .swfs do.

So in short, only this short line is missing, basically:
<param name="wmode" value="direct"/>

There is no way to add this in WebsitePainter unless you want to edit the generated .html code yourself before uploading. But to be on the safe side, and to make it run including JavaScript extensions and in all browsers it is better to just paste the HTML code of CopperCube into a HTML element in WebsitePainter, for now.

WebsitePainter should support the new direct mode in a future update.

Where do I get this code generated from a copper cube swf?

I am having a hell of a time just simply trying to embed a coppercube .swf file and having functioning as the only thing on an HTML page. I just don't understand why this is being so difficult. I've been at it for hours.

When you preview a file from CopperCube as Flash, then it generates an .swf file and an .html file. Open that Html file (you can do this also with your browser by viewing the source of the HTML file) and copy everything in between the 6th and the 4 last line (everything between the 'object' tags', including the object tags). Also don't forget to upload your .swf file then.

Sorry that you feel this is difficult. That is how websites and flash 'works', it's just like that unfortunately.

Niko, I have tried all day to get this simple task done;

To imbed a coppercube export of a .SWF into an HTML website.

I have researched countless different tutorials and I have no idea why this is not working. It seems so straight forward, but the coppercube code just doesn't seem to work.

Could you maybe copy the code I put into html here and then maybe I can just upload my .SWF to the same directory on my server and adjust the file names accordingly? Ive grown so accustomed to Coppercube, to the point where I'm about to release a commercial product with it, but if does not meet my requirements where i can publish it myself, then I may have to look into paying someone to do my productions with a more suitable engine... The .SWF does not appear to imbed as intended. All I get is a "Download Adobe Flash" button when I finally think I'm getting somewhere too...

I need just the HTML file and the SWF file? Or do I need all the working files, such as textures etc and everything as well in the same directory?

You only need the .swf file and the .html file. If you just take the ones generated by CopperCube and upload them to your server, it should work already.
If it is easier for you to use WebsitePainter, and if the coppercube generated .html works on your webserver, you can also just include that uploaded website in your websitePainter project, just use the iframe element for this.

If you want to rename the .swf, you also need to rename the files in your html code. Alternatively, just save your Coppercube project with the name you want, and hit 'publish' again. It then will create the .swf with that name instead.

For sending code, just send me a mail (See support -> contact). It's easier and faster that way.

Hi Niko, Clearly I am having similar issues to James. We use Adobe Muse to build our website. I have been trying to embed either the SWF or the OpenGL. Every time I embed the file in the page I get nothing but a black screen. When I tried using the html code between the 6th and 4th last as you suggested above, I don't even get that. Does it not work with Muse? But then I tried with your Webpainter 2, but I just get a white box with a grey bar. Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know muse, or what it is, but if you get a black screen, you usually either have an too old flash player installed, or you didn't have set the wmode of the swf to direct.

Ok, now I have googled what Adobe Muse is. It seems to generate websites? But that's just what WebsitePainter does, and you posted this here in the websitepainter forum. I'm confused now. How are you using that?
