Does anyone have an idea of how you can add an effect to a sound (like the distortion) and override the file with the distorted sound?
Thanks

I don't think that's possible, if you mean "saving the output sound" by "override the file".

But is there a way for me to create a new file ? (a copy of the older one, but with the effect)

You cannot save the sound with the effect overlaid in irrKlang. There is no access to the output sound.
In detail: Effects are only possible to be added when using the DSound device, but saving the output sound is only possible with devices NOT being DSound (like WinMM, Alsa or CoreAudio).
