How do I make a light follow in front of a 3rd person player or FPS player? Thanks. Mike |

Set your world to "dynamic light", then you can attach a point light to the player, by creating one and dragging it in the Scene Graph explorer onto the player. It will then move and rotate with the player automatically. But it is not a spot light, as you might expect, it is still a point light. |

Niko, Where do I go in the software to set the world to Dynamic Light? I cannot seem to find it anywhere. Mike |

Select your 3D geometry representing your 3d world, open the "Materials" tab, and seet "Lighting" to "dynamic". If you have a directional light (gets inserted into your scene automatically when creating terrain), then reduce its color brightness or delete it, so you can see the point lights better. Also, the root node of your scene has an "Ambient light" property, which you can also set to black, to make everything look better then. |

I have done most of this, but have not seen any drop down for dynamic light in the material section of any of my geometry. The light DOES NOT follow the player even though I dropped the light onto the player so it SHOULD follow him around. I did lower the ambient and directional light in the scene so it has a nice and spooky atmosphere. Mike |

It should look like this: See the "Lighting" combobox at the top? This should be it. Not sure about your light problem. Is it shown as a child in the scene graph explorer? You have to drop it in that window, not in 3D. |

Got it! Now I see it and it works well - except for the skybox. If I turn the ambient light all the way down and the scene ambient and background color all the way down to black, my 'flashlight' (have to make a 3D object flashlight for the character to hold) does now go with the 3rd person player and light everything up - but the skybox stays fully lit. I am sure a darker skybox would be in order, but would the 'sun' still be brightly lit? How do I control the 'sun'? I am trying to create a very spooky scene. Mike |

Yes, the skybox is basically just an image, in 3D. It won't get affected by anything. It is just an image, drawn as it is. Use another image. Like a sky with stars, or the moon maybe. |

im having an issue adding the flashlight to my character, it works fine in my frist scene, but my sceond scene i cant see the flashlight and i havent changed anything |

Drag the flashlight to the active camera and drop it. It should act as a child node. |
