I want to simulate a broken light flashing, how would I do this?

I tried the at random intervals do something choice and chose to turn the light on and off - but that does not do anything since it's lightmapped and not dynamic.

Do I need all the lights dynamic for that to work?

You can normal mapped your scene to make the lights work more realistically... Or yes , you should change your scene to dynamic rather than static..

I changed it to Dynamic, added some lights and saw only black. Could not make it work without lightmapping.

I followed the tutorial and did not get any results.

All of my normal maps appear red when imported - that cannot be normal (pun intended).
