Hello,
The current texture size limit for a lightmap is 1024x1024. Is there any way to get a higher texture size? The current texture size limits the quality of the lightmap created, producing jagged edges on the shadows. Many games these days can use up to 4k textures when needed and many video cards have 8GB and more memory.

I think the reason is that there are systems and hardware out there (especially WebGL and Android) which don't support higher values. You could set the resolution value to a lower one to increase your details, though.

Thanks, Erik. However, that would be a poor reason, don't you think? You can select your texture size for lightmaps already and choose a lower one if you are targeting systems that don't support higher values. So, for example, I can already select 512x512, 128x128, etc. So, what would be the harm in allowing for 2048x2048 and 4096x4096? If I don't want to use a large lightmap, then I could always choose a smaller texture size. But by not having the larger texture size, I am not able to create more detailed lightmaps.
Thanks for the recommendation of adjusting the resolution value downward. That does help. But what I end up with is a sharper and sharper shadow edge. Is there a way to get a softer shadow edge if I need one?

I agree. With more powerful video cards and falling prices, even the common layperson can afford a video card that can show lightmaps as large as 4096x4096 at this point without much lag.
