So, I thought of this just now: Could you maybe make an automated thing which calculates where lights should be placed so it looks good? This is a huge request, haha... I think it could be done algorithmically. I wonder if this could be added before you unveil the DX11 renderer (since the game I'm working on requires the visuals that DX9 gives - unless you plan on keeping the DX9 renderer around for a few more point releases)? |

When is the DX11 render-er coming out? |

Since not all Windows versions support DX11 and also other things like Wine run better with DX9, it will probably stay there for a long time. When DX11 will be available: I hope in the next or the release after that, at least a beta version. |

Well that and I'm sure making a DX11 renderer will take a considerable amount of work. You're presumably refactoring the entire application to allow such a large feature since, well, DX8, 9, OpenGL, and then software were all in CC since version 1 and aside from improvements to those 4, it hasn't seen any new ones since then. Not to mention I'm sure you'll have to change a lot of stuff internally and update it so it can take advantage of newer stuff that DX11 introduced. When you say "in the next or the release after that", do you mean the next point release, or do you mean the next major release (CopperCube 7 in this case)? I hope one of the future point releases will introduce support for more VR devices since I'm not keen on the idea of buying an expensive out of date Oculus development headset just to do VR-related stuff :) No pressure though. |

Oculus Go for android would be the best bet for VR. Mike |

How about having two versions of Coppercube - one for DX9 and older computers/OS and a 2nd version for higher end systems that can run DX11 games. I, for one, need the better renderer of DX11 so that games can look more like the output of Unity, Unreal, etc. Mike |
