Importing a .3ds file

Hi

I am creating an island in coppercube. I tried to import a .3ds image but the colors did not follow with it. I tested on another app (Blender) and I saw the colors so I am thinking it is a coppercube thing.

Can anyone help or do you have a nice palm tree for me to use? :-)

Its seems that you are trying to say about materials color... If your model consist of textures and you have placed them in the correct dorectory then there will be no problem coppercube will load them correctly...

But if your model has no texture but have materials with color then, the color won't be shown up in coppercube what you can do is you can manuallly add colors to materials of your 3d models using the irredit option in coppercube...

Hope that helps..

I agree with just_in_case & have nothing to add to the first part of your post.

For the second part, I do have some nice palm trees that are collecting digital-dust on my PC because I never had a project in which I could use them :) They were made free & available for projects for years now so you can use them legally in any project, non-commercial or commercial.

They are a bit low-poly but still look nice & with good lighting or shaders I think they can really make a great asset for a game. These are in B3D format with TGA textures. When I imported one in CC, the texture was automatically switched to transparent so it's out-of-a-box kind of thing :)

The palm trees are beautiful and they imported! However if there is a water surface behind any part of the tree, it cuts through :-(

Yeah you're right, just tested them with water & they are clipping, it must be the B3D limitation, sorry :(

Here are the same palm trees in obj format, I tried it & they don't clip:

The only thing is that they now don't automatically switch texture render-mode to Transparent so you will have to set it manually.
