Yeah this sounds crazy, but would you consider adding a PBR rendering system for the DX9 renderer before you unveil the DX11 one? Maybe even release both the DX11 one and the DX9 one (with PBR) at the same time. I don't know how far along you are with the DX11 renderer or if you'd disclose that, but just an idea :) S2Engine has a PBR-based renderer and that's Direct X 9-based so why can't CC have it? :)

It would be possible, right, but it would be a nightmare to make it work together with the existing system, and backwards compatible on top of that.

Ah damn. Right... I'm guessing that the lightmapping system would have to be tossed out / disabled since PBR would allow you to have realtime shadows. Correct?

AFAIK, PBR doesn't have to do a lot if shadows, but yes, it conflicts with mostly every material system in CopperCube currently. :)

Ah, wow... hah that'd be a pain in the ass, then. It'd be a neat feature to have someday, but now that I know it conflicts so badly with everything else, then maybe that can wait!
