I was having some fun today with DX3D Ripper & one of my Top 10 favorite games: Call of Cthulhu - Dark Corners of the Earth :)

I wanted to recreate Hydra level from the game in Copper but, unfortunately, the DX3D Ripper made too many mistakes & half of the geometry is missing.

Still I wanna share it, the level itself is useless but you can see the imagination & creativity of the level designers more than you could while playing the game.

The geometry is very simple but still so effective, it actually makes me a bit sad since I was never able to create such a beautiful level designs :(

Here's a ccb if someone wants to check it out:

Btw if you like H. P. Lovecraft & horror games you should play this game as soon as possible :) I never played a game that captures Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos so accurately & creates the same atmosphere as he does through his stories.

I was using this very program to remake Sims 2, though it was very difficult to get the meshes so they were usable in CC. There's a Blender addon which fixes the perspective and texture assignments (assuming 3D Ripper DX rips the textures in their entirety anyway.s..) but it still was so much work...

Yeah, perspective is all messed up, I didn't know that there's an addon for Blender that can fix it, I'll look for it. However I'm not really happy with Ripper, mostly because it doesn't capture entire level but only what camera sees at the moment :( Maybe if I create 4 captures of the same level from 4 different angles, but than I would have to compare duplicates of the geometry, delete some & join some, it would be a hassle to do.

I also tried Ninja Ripper yesterday, it really does capture entire level but it also creates too many files, they need to be re-written with ripdump executable, Blender import is terrible & textures needs remapping in most cases :( It's not bad for extracting a specific model that you wanna have but for level geometry it's just not good.

Or maybe I'm not using it as it should be used. Also people that have 3DMax are very happy with Ninja Ripper, I only have Blender.
