30 Post Processing Effects

Hi All.

I recently tested reShader injector.

Not only does it give you around 30 default shader options, including bloom but also things such as depth of field and 100's of templates, it is also configurable in game simply by pressing the home button to bring up the dozens of flexible settings.

Kind of makes me pissed off that I purchased coppercube.

This does everything that I want and the results are spectacular.

Far better then sweetFX or isildur injectors.

I am truly impressed and now I can do everything that I wanted to do with the engine.

The graphics are dramatically improved and far more flexible.

However, there may be some issue when you sell the game, you might need to pay royalties or something...thoughts?

https://reshade.me/

Just download and run the installer and all the post processing effects will be packaged with your game

I really liked QeffectsGL, it was very simple to use but it's only for OpenGL builds. I will download & try ReShade, the website specifies D3D 9, 10, 11 and also OpenGL so it seems way better than QeffectsGL.

As for usage rights & obligations, they wrote:
"As of January 1st 2017, ReShade is open sourced under the terms and conditions of the BSD 3-clause license."

BSD 3-clause license is:
https://opensource.org/licenses/...

...so I guess it's o.k. to use if you ship your game with ReShade copyright notice, conditions and disclaimer.

I will try it as soon as I can, is it easy to integrate or should I prepare myself for hours of code-tweaking? :)

Did you ever find something similar that works with WebGL? All I ever found was ether for D3D or OpenGL games :(

Nice...

I was using sweetFX which I will still use when I don't want the user to be able to edit the graphics...

reshade is better for providing the user with flexibility and enhancing CC. I have created some cool things with both.

Typically the only effect that I use with CC is bloom and blur, but I only use blur via the api , to switch it on and off when I need it.

Reshade is good for those effects that you want on all the time.

Otherwise, SweetFX is ideal when you only want to allow the user to change specific post processing effects and that you can do with coppercube command line interface plus javascript...

Also, I write perl portable. Perl portable is a new portable version of perl. What is nice about it is that it provides you with more flexibility then just using the http functions of Coppercube. Perl portable can thus better interrogate the server and work in tangent with the command line.

For example, I executed a website link from CC exe quite easily with .bat and CC command line help..

But I have heard that many are using python.

Tried ReShade today, it works great and it's very easy to use, cheers! It lowers fps extremely in some cases but in other cases it has almost no effect on fps. ...didn't function with WebGL but, than again, that was a long shot :)

I wouldn't mind players messing around with PPE in my game but it would be great to be able to have effects turned on or off during the gameplay, not just at start.

Is sweetFX as easy to use as ReShade/QeffectsGL? Do I need heavy coding to be able to switch effects on/off during the game?

Never messed around with Perl script, sounds interesting though, I'm still hopping some day I will be able to iframe simple html inside canvas in OpenGL :)

If you want to use SWEETFX you will need to use the CC6 write to file function to edit the settings and build a custom control panel

I know Coppercube is very old and never got dragstic updates, but as game developers we should not have to deal with external programs to add post effects or change them in game.

Coppercube is still my game engine of choice and it still has huge potential.

I just hope that we get the features i the road map. Personally I want DX11 but it is not necessary for my game at the moment

Do you mean this " ccbWriteFileContent(filename, content)" ?

So it is easier to change variables and interact with sweetFX that way using your own game menus and write to file javascript?

cool - will take a look at that then as much prefer my own game menus to adjust these settings - make it more professional and easier to use for the end user.
