Try adobe's fbx converter... And try changing it to an older version of fbx format....

Hope that helps...

If you click in CopperCube View -> Show output and then import the file, do you get any error messages?

Okay so when i put the model into blender it comes with a bunch of hair eyebrows and beards attached...i wonder if that is for player customization meaning i delete all but 1 hair beard eyebrow for any type of customization!

I use Ultimate Unwrap 3D Pro and convert all my assets to Blitz 3D (.b3d) format. CC seems to really love that format. (Old Blitz 3D user here).

Works especially well for animated models.

You...you were a Blitz 3D user ?
Ok, your skills alone must wipe the floor clean as far as programming is concern here.

Direct x (.x) files are good for static objects. Convert textures to .dds
