I was working on a project and accidentally shift +deleted the project folder. Tried many recovery tools but none of them worked for me tried disk drill, any recover etc.

if anybody knows a better recovery tool then please let me know.

A small advice always create 2 folder in 2 different drive so that if you accidentally delete it from one drive then you won't have to regret in later as the project backup folder will still be lying in your different drive.

Don't be a fool like me who placed the backup of ccb's files in the same folder as the original file.

Now i have to rebuild the whole project from start, glad that behaviors and actions i worked on are not deleted as they are in different location.

Thank you for reading a very sad and emotional story.

I can recommend to use a source control system. Most people say git is a good tool, but it's very complicated. I'd recommend to install subversion and use a UI like tortoise SVN, it is very easy to use and setup (also: both are free). You'll never loose anything after that anymore.

No, no, no, no, no, no :O :O :O
🔎︎

The same thing happened to me few years ago when I was trying to free-up space and deleted, what seemed like, a folder with some old pictures, games and videos. It took only 5 sec after shift-delete for me to realize that some of the animated models and environments I'm using were also in that folder :( :(
I had to download a bunch of things and modify them again, some of the models I never found because the websites & links were long gone :(
Hopefully you didn't delete your main projects. After that I always double check what I'm deleting in my mind when my fingers are on shift-delete, I know I should be using regular delete because this is very risky but it's just so much faster :/

All right. Let me try.
Go to C: and go to properties of disk and you can use Old versions of files. Commonly Ms Windows make some backups.

Perhaps you can find the date of your folder as backup of windows.

You can find the CCB file by name on Windows Explorer, generally CopperCube posts file in the temporarily folder, perhaps inside of an Apk file or Exe file.

So, let's go.
I'm so sad for you.

At the last option, you can install Recuva Tool. It's a good tool.

I tried All but nothing worked for me to recover the project. Actually it was a 2D RTS game clone of "age of empires".... but now all gone and i have started rebuilding it all again from beginning......
In future i will rethink 100 times before deleting multiple files.. or i will go with @Eric's advice..

will later post a video of a villager moving in a so called 2D Space.

Bit of a pain having to keep all the files and folder structures in tact just so coppercube can re-locate the resources (especially if the files are scattered all over the place). Entire projects may be lost through simple carelessness when tidying a harddrive or desktop.

Is there any way to pack an entire project (including all the used files) with the coppercube file when it gets saved by the creator?

Or have coppercube create a separate, dedicated resource folder when the project is saved (eg: in "My Documents")?

Or any way to extract all the required files from an exported game.exe back into the coppercube editor if ever a resource is accidentally deleted?

Or have coppercube report a missing asset with a "manually locate file" so we can replace the missing project files manually.

Once you created the ccb coppercube project, you don't need the original resources files though.... Untill or unless you are loaring textures and models dynamically outside the editor...

So just move the ccb file to any computer and it will contains all the resources, like audio ,models, and textures...

But it is always good to have original resources backed up too...
Because there is an issue, it won't save those audio resources which are played through the action play a sound.
But it will save the audio which has been loaded though the sound scenenode generally 3D sound..

So i just save my ccb not the entire resources files..but as always its a good practice to have both backed up..

Did you create an apk file to test it on your phone ?
If yes then good news !
Unzip the apk file and there it is !
Your Original Source file !

Things like this would be a total nightmare for me and end my game totally as too much time invested. For this reason I make a tonne of backups all over the place and online also.

I have a 2nd HDD with full backups done most days of the CCB files, an external HDD with complete backup of all files & data, 2x USB drives with key files on it and key files online just in case of fire/theft. I also make local backups every few hours as have lost data before by forgetting to save and loading another...
