CopperCube 6 obsticle avoidance follow test

video link below

A rough test using proximity boxes and variables to avoid objects as the AI chases the orange sphere. Ai is using patrol when not in pursuit. A 2nd animated AI "creature" is following the blue sphere helping to create a smoother movement. No scripts are being used. Not the most efficient way of "avoiding obstacles" but with some tweaking and scripting could be useful/ Inspired by Ambiera's copperCube forum contributor just_in_case.

Takes a bit of time to set up as I'm using proximity cubes. The blue spheres has 3 small directional spheres attached to it. When those spheres penetrate the obstacles proximity cubes...a waypoint/object appears on a specific side of the obstacle, steering the AI(blue sphere), hence steering the creature.
You will also notice the orange "goal" sphere is shooting at all times at the "blue sphere". When the blue sphere is hit it chases the "Goal" this is a "Line of sight". Notice when the bullet hits the obstacle the AI won't follow as much. Adjusting the AI's patrol radius and Activation radius makes a difference.

It's a start..

good video...I enjoyed watching the creature follow the point - running around and between the boxes, but more important, it really shows with a little creativity CC can do the things we want it to do... using the things built into the engine and without writing hours of code. GOOD JOB!

Thank you "count2rfeit".

Thanks "yalazkan"

I'm pretty terrible with code as I'm very visual and like to see results quickly. Coppercube is by far one of the easiest game engines to use. I can forgive the outdated graphic capabilities as it pushes simplicity and unique art styles rather then everything looking like PBR materials etc. and Unity and Unreal. Don't get me wrong those game engines are amazing and you can do unique art styles with them but I love the simplicity of Coppercube.

Pathfinding is very important and Obstacle avoidance/steering around objects.

I'll see if I can upload the CCB file so you guys can play with it and possibly make it better.

Very cool... I am glad that you finally managed to create the follow object

Ha ha! thanks "Just". It's a work in progress and I have to figure out how to simplify the set-up process. I'm also trying some coded version. For me it's very important to have "AI" to avoid obstacles or path find in a level.

thanks for your support!
