Whenever I click "remove unused textures", Coppercube hangs for a few seconds before crashing and then closes to desktop.

Is there any other way I can remove the unused textures please?

Thanks.

You can refer to javascript reference page. They have a ccbCleanMemory() thing that frees up unused textures.

I've had this many times before also. When your textures loaded gets above around 450 MB + then this can start to happen. I would keep regular checks and keep removing unused textures along the way if you are loading new ones to test regularly.

If you are using large textures all the time then try reduce the resolution of any 4k textures to 2k and if tonnes of 2k textures used reduce some to 1k...this should fix this problem.

Otherwise try the memory expansion trick for 64 bit OS to enable another 1GB and RAM (if you have 4GB or more RAM) while running 32 bit apps. You can mod the exe file of CC editor itself - it might help...

@AnAverageGuest:
Thanks, I do use the clean memory command. I just wanted to remove the textures from the ccb file to get the filesize and final game.exe as small as possible and not have the menu cluttered with things I'm not using in the game.

@Robo:
Thanks Robo, I had used many textures in the past - before I started optimizing it. I have managed to get rid of most of the old ones now. I'm in the process of optimizing all the assets - the map, models, textures, music and sound samples are down to just 30MB total per level. The whole game is currently just 50MB. I'm planning 20 levels though - so the smaller I can get each level, the better. It's the default textures which I can't seem to remove (the skybox, smoke and the cube textures - which I'm not using). Maybe they can't be deleted which isn't a real issue for me.

I can try hacking the final_game.exe file (using reshacker) to see if I can remove the unwanted files and then recompile it or else I can go into the COppercube program files and replace the default textures with single pixels and reload them into the editor as "blanks".

I'm not even sure if these rogue textures are being saved in the final game or if they only appear in the coppercube editor. If they're just in the editor, it's no issue at all as it only ever crashes if I try to remove them - I could even just leave them there to be honest.

Thanks both for your help.
