I am cloning several large folders and find the automatic naming of meshes inside the folder is not consistent with the first Folder. I have named all the meshes in the first folder as 1-xxx.Is there a script that would allow me to name new clone meshes inside the folder as 2-xxx but retain the rest of the name?

See this thread it contains a script by @just_in_case that allow you to have individual name for the cloned nodes.
