Replacement for html tables?

Hello,
I need to simulate what in prehistoric times was accomplished through a simple html table. I need to list a series of items, each with a thumbnail image and 4 or five categories of text, what I used to do with a table, each item occupying one row, the thumbnail and text categories going horizontally in the columns.
Obviously, tables don't behave like that any more. What is the simplest and most effective method in RC? Do I simply create a container for each item (of hundreds)?
Also, am I correct in saying that there is no such thing as thumbnail images in the old sense (a low res image linked to a higher res image), but that the full resolution image is always loaded, and RC simply scales it visually? (I ask so that I know not to make the images too large).
Many thanks for any guidance!

You could probably use the image gallery element in RocketCAke for that. It also supports some short text to be written under each image.

From what you describe, that seems to be exactly what you want. You simply select a few images in there, it generates thumbnails for you, and lets you specifiy how the image is enlarged when the user is clicking on it.

But alternatively, you could do this manually using containers, yes.

Thank you for the quick response! I tried image gallery, but the text function is far too limited, and presents the problem of inserting new items in between existing items rather than at the end.
So I guess it's containers!
thanks again.

you can also use 'Container with columns'. Maybe it helps

Hello, regarding this issue, in toying with RocketCake, I find that if I create a table, and insert a container into a cell, and then insert an image into that container, its seem to work! The image remains confined to the cell as the table responds to changes.
Am I missing some fatal flaw in this approach, or is it a way to have a responsive table with images? Many thanks.

Try out if it works for you like that on all the possible browser sizes (click preview, view it in the browser and resize the window of the browser to see how it works).

If everything works like you want it to work, then it should be ok.

Indeed works fine with different browsers and devices. Thanks again.
