I'm really excited to share that our hard work is finally starting look done! Even though not everyone may see the immediate need for it, OkeOke and I are truly passionate about creating this soft that will enhance the gaming experience. Working together on this joystick addon for coppercube is an amazing journey!

Version 0.1.0 is release! It could be found here:https://samgrady.itch.io/copperg...

This time me and SamGrady actually put effort into it. Currently we have the following functionality:
* Configuration tool - allows to use gamepads with different buttons layout;
* Seamless integration. Put cgp.exe to the folder with your game, add Main extension to your root node. On the first start configuration tool will guide you through the controller setup. No need to manually start/stop anything;
* Full support of FPS camera with modern and old-school ps1 style controls. Everything is analog as it supposed to be;
* Some support of TPS controller:)
* On button press extension, which works basically the same way as "When key press do something", but with a gamepad;
* Possible to add key binding (basically assign aliases) and use them in your code or to configure provided extensions.

Overall it should be a smooth experience for both coders and no-coders.

Please try it out, and if you face any issues. Let us know.

Awesome, will this work with the API , JIC created for the controller in the update? so that it will be native to the CC and we don't have to use freebasic or any other laanguage based additional external tool? Maybe you guys can create that physics engine tool or multiplayer tool with freebasic as well, so that CopperCube can have better use of physics and MP Games.
Thanks for your contributions.

Thank you!

As the new API is released we're most likely going to support it. At least we tried to keep everything consistent, so all inputs are handled in one place. If needed to change the way the plugin gets the input it could be done without rewriting everything.

Also JIC only provides the API, so a lot of stuff from current implementation like button configurator, extensions, binding manager will still be relevant after it's released.

@dynamogames great, thanks, it would be great if you can write later what errors and bugs you encountered, I only have two devices for debugging and OkeOke has one more so your feedback will help us update the program

At the moment, the project is being put on hold due to a lack of user interest, which has halted its progress. As I mentioned before, collecting feedback on errors is essential for development as it contributes to the project's advancement.
The project has now transitioned to personal development for my own project.

@SamGrady,

sorry for my late reply to this topic. Please do no retreat. I have tested your controller project these days and find it very promising and valuable. My cheap standard controller did not work with the forward direction. Other buttons seemed to work great!

Also, would there maybe two controllers simultaneously be possible? Perhaps additional 32bit support for CopperCube 6.3?

I would like to encourage you to keep going with this for the public. Thank you very much, great job!

Hi Sam,
your project is very helpfull. The audience here is small so don't let you get discouraged from the lack of interest.
Keep on the good work.

@hadoken

I believe, the core tool which captures controller input is 32 bit, so it could be used with basically any version.

You can also use "key bindings" and "action on key press extensions" with 6.3. Unfortunately, fps/tsp controllers won't work since they rely on key emulation and set mouse cursor functions, which appeared just recently.

@SamGrady pls do not be discouraged by the lack of interest. I'd love to test it but I currently do not have a controller but I'll be sure to test it when I get one soon.

@samgrady and @okeoke, you guys should not be discouraged and keep doing whatever you are doing, I can understand how it feels, when you put lot of efforts and time into something but a few people are interested in it, how it demotivates the dveloper. But do it for yourself, so that you guys can learn and invent somehting new. Also, it will be fairly easy to make it work with the API that I have created.
However as I don't have dual controllers, I can't really check or update the API to work with more than 1 controller simultaneously.
The API commands are already available and the test project as well, so you can use the commands and make your project work with the native API and test it right away. So that whenever we have a new update, people will be able to use it instantly without having the third party app integration.

I was about to the same, for many of my API scripts but lately I am getting very less time, most of the time my PC was used by my cousins to play some games and all.

I am glad that there are so many talented and skilled programmers in the community who are innovative and can create really good extensions for the engine. Keep the good work up.
