I Have No Shadows

Hello everyone,

I am using Copper Cube 6.6.

I have No Shadows of any kind and cant get any to display.

Tried everything and every combination of settings and lights, parameters and permutations I can find in engine, in manual and so on, looking online for help and read posts here.

I can see others have had problems with shadows not working.

It seems shadows are just broken?

I will keep trying but its like repeating forever the same things and expecting a different outcome. There are only a limited number of options and I think I have tried them all many times.

Any help, advice or pointers would be appreciated.

Thank you

Hi petercoleman!

It&039;s is weird, because the shadows of Coppercube works fine!

Did you see if the shadows is enable in the menu of the scene? click in first node of the scene and click in atribute, let shadows enable;

In the options of the engine, let in direct3d, I think the opengl can cause this problem!

You need to apply dynamics textures in the objects in or scene for it show shadows and interact with the lights! just let the textures in "dynamics" in the atributes of materials of each object!

Thanks for that,

Yes tried all that and many other combinations, many times - days and days of trying :-)

I have a Scene with a Height Map Terrain with some large Rocks in it and very little else...

When I test run the Game/Scene I get an error message in the console which says,,,,,

HLSL pixel shader compilation failed :
HLSL vertex shader compilation failed :

That sounds ominously like what the problem is and is the likely reason.

I have no way of knowing if that&039;s the cause or knowing how to fix that error so I can eliminate that as the problem.

Any help from anyone welcome

Thanks

Check if you have selected directX in the publishing settings and not openGL.

if still have issues then you can try the solution provided here on this thread below, this can be related to directX or driver issue, or if you have multiple GPU in your system you should try switching them.

Thanks for the help,

I changed over to OpenGL and that has removed the console error messages I had re HLSL and console is now good so that's fixed at least ;-)

As said I have Some large Rocks in the level on the Terrain. The rocks are shading nicely light and dark sides but don't cast any shadows on the Terrain. Should they do so or is that not possible? They are Static mesh imports so do I need to convert them to Dynamic Meshes for them to cast Shadows? perhaps?

I am not new to game making but new to Copper Cube so still learning and finding my way around.

Thanks for the help which is much appreciated.

Peter

Only Dx9 and we go support real time shadow from dynamic lighting

Since you use the OpenGL renderer, only way to get shadow is using the bake light map option

Or you could try fixing/reinstall Dx9 as mentioned above
