When I switch from one scene to the next the text animation is supposed to happen at the start of that scene, but it doesn't. Is it broken or is there a fix of some sort?

Do you mean animate a texture? Are you using the behavior in the new scene itself? It won't work if you use the animate texture behavior in the previous scene.

I just downloaded it, made 2 scenes, made it so the first scene transitions to the second one when the cube is clicked, and the text animation behavior worked on the overlay in the second scene. What text string are you using for yours? Maybe something you typed in is breaking it.

Are you getting an error in the console? Maybe that one that says something like property does not exist: text?

Hi the behavior works fine on my end too, I am the one who developed that behavbior, there is also an action version of the same on my website https://neophyte.cf/assets.html
you can try downloading the action, that you can execute whenever you want, while the behavior is supposed to play as as the scene starts, you can control the action when you want to animate the text.
