lightmapper question

I had a few instances where the lightmapper would report eg. "There were 33 triangles too large to be lightmapped".

Is there a way to identify these large triangles?

Also, I was under the impression that the actual size of the mesh didn't matter, But rather the original size after loading the mesh, so if the cube is 1000^3 after loading, and then scaled down to a 1x1x1 volume, it will still be considered too large.

Maybe I'm wrong with this. If not then it's a bug.
