What file format are you using?
In CopperCube, you can see if there are any problems by selecting "View -> Show Output Window"

It probably cannot find the texture. Did you look into the Output Window as I wrote above? Do you get some error messages?
Maybe you didn't extract the texturea. Or you need to copy the texture into the folder where your 3d model is. Depends on the error message you get.

Ah, so you are importing an .obj file? .Obj files don't have materials. Unless you have a second file with the same name and the extension .mtl in there, which holds the materials.

You'll have to experiment a bit until you find the best format for you. I personally am using .3ds, it works nicely (although you cannot use long file names with it)
