When I used the old blender for making models,I exported the model as the 3ds and the textures were fine, Until they decided to make a giant update in 2019, Now every time I make a model in blender, I cant put multiple textures on each object, for example I put a cube, Cylinder, and a sphere in blender and export it as obj wavefront, as the stupid update got rid of exporting it as 3ds, then put it in coppercube 6 and I cant put 3 different textures on each shape I made. I tried all of the files I can export it as, dae, abc, fbx, ply, obj, x3d, stl, and glb, but none of them work! |

Hmm.. Weird. Try using fragmotion to import the obj. And see for material issue. If you found some issues with the materials, fix it and export it to .3ds Hope that help! And oh, Good Luck! |

A simple workaround for this is keep both versions of blender.. Blender 2.8 with new powerful eeve render is amazing but it lacks a lot of functionality and support for older versions... I personally have both the versions installed in ky pc.. Blend 2.8 and blender 2.79.... Use blender 2.79 for exporting your models.. And i haven't yet tried exporting models from 2.8 yet... So can't tell much... But it is good to have both versions installed. |

Agreed with @just_in_case. Blender 2.79 is the best blender version for exporting, currently. |

I have both installed also and use 2.79 for exporting. In exporting I found OBJ works well but DAE even better as it preserves vertex coloring and links textures the best. |
